SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER (SSN)
For Bay Atlantic University students, there are 2 ways to acquire a Social Security Number (SSN):
- Obtaining an SSN Through On-Campus Employment
Students can apply for an on-campus job by checking job openings here. Once a position is secured, the Director of Human Resources will provide an employment verification letter, which students can use to apply for a Social Security Number (SSN).
- Obtaining an SSN Through Curricular Practical Training (CPT)
Students who have maintained full-time F-1 status for at least one academic year and are in good academic standing may apply for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) if it is an integral part of their program and tied to a specific course. Mentora students are not eligible. To begin CPT, students must obtain a DSO’s endorsement on Form I-20 and cannot start before the approved date. Once CPT is approved, students become eligible to apply for a Social Security Number (SSN). For further details, consult a DSO near the end of your second semester or visit BAU CPT/OPT Information.
