Race, Ethnicity and Identity
Diversity regarding race, ethnicity and identity is important to Bay Atlantic University. Our student body should reflect the community we teach and instruct. Race, which can include physical characteristics or ethnicity, can be a part of an individual’s identity and is celebrated as yet another way our students bring diverse backgrounds and experiences to our campus.
Nondiscrimination and removing barriers to learning are important to BAU. Only when respect for human differences is recognized can all students feel welcome in society.
The regions and corresponding groups that BAU recognizes is adapted from the United States Census Bureaus’ grouping. Which are:
- American Indian or Alaskan Native (North, Central, and South America)
- Asian (Far East, Southwest Asia, India)
- Black or African American (Africa)
- Hispanic or Latino
- Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander (Hawaii, Guam, Samoa, and/or the Pacific Islands)
- White or Caucasian (Europe, Middle East, North Africa)
- Bi-racial (more than two races)
- Multiple races / other
