Bay Atlantic University and Can I Live, Inc. Partner to Present Hybrid Pitch Competition and Pop-Up Shop Event to Support DC Under-Resourced Entrepreneurs.
On August 5, 2021 at 12:00 PM graduates of the Resident Owned Business Incubator (ROBI) presented their small business pitches to community leaders, potential investors and provided an opportunity to shop with them after they compete for over $5K in cash and resources.
Resident Owned Business Incubator (ROBI) with the support of Bay Atlantic University (BAU), was proud to showcase its graduates as they present their small businesses at the fourth Piranha Pitch Competition at 1510 H Street, NW Washington DC 20005, 7th Floor. ROBI is a program of Can I live, Inc., a nonprofit organization working to reduce dependency on government subsidies through entrepreneurship and education. The national residents’ association is dedicated to advancing progressive housing policies, economic inclusion, and personal responsibility for residents of public housing communities.
ROBI awarded 3 winners for the 4th Piranha Pitch Competition. Crystal Marshall took home $1,000 for landing 3rd place with Clear Bridge Connections– a community resource and support for network for ex-offenders . The 2nd place winner Unique Williams took home $2,000 with Sheatoven-a cod skincare company with a signature product geared to help women with PMS. Najwa Womack wooed the crowd with her charismatic speech on stepping into “sistainability” with her comprehensive compost solution. Najwa Womack CEO of Sistained8 took home the grand prize winning of $3,000.
Clarissa Rutgers went home with a $500 cash award after winning the popular vote-a segment of the completion open to live stream viewers.
