Dear BAU Community,

The new year is off to a great start as we step into a new chapter filled with fresh energy and opportunity. January has brought the excitement of a new semester, the joy of welcoming new students into our community, and the momentum that comes with shared experiences and renewed goals. As 2026 unfolds, we are inspired by the sense of possibility that accompanies these beginnings and look forward to the growth, learning, and connection that lie ahead.

A New Chapter This Spring

Our semester is off to a strong and promising start, marked by renewed energy, enthusiasm, and a clear sense of momentum across campus. The return to campus has brought heightened focus in the classroom, meaningful connections among students, and a seamless transition into the rhythms of the spring term. As we welcome new students and continue to live out the mission established earlier this year, the opening weeks of the semester have reflected a collective commitment to learning, personal growth, and a vibrant, supportive community.

BAU Orientation

This month, we were proud to welcome our newest students to BAU during New Student Orientation, marking the start of their academic journey this spring. Orientation introduced students to campus life, academic expectations, and key resources, while also creating meaningful opportunities to connect with peers, faculty, and staff. As Welcome Week continues, we look forward to supporting our students as they transition into the semester and begin building a strong foundation for academic and personal success.

Mentora College Orientation

Mentora College warmly welcomed its incoming students through a dynamic Orientation experience designed to set the tone for a semester of growth and impact. Students were introduced to the ESL program, learned about academic support services, and engaged with their peers as they prepared for the term ahead. Orientation emphasized connection, confidence, and community, ensuring students feel supported as they begin their studies at Mentora.

A Truly Global Community

This semester, we are proud to welcome students representing 79 countries, reflecting the diverse and global nature of both BAU and Mentora College. The wide range of cultures, perspectives, and experiences enriches our campus community and strengthens the learning environment for all. As students from around the world come together, we are excited to foster meaningful connections and celebrate the global spirit that defines our institutions.

Professor Tsige Tessema: Empowering the Next Generation in Tech

We are proud to highlight Dr. Tsige Tessema, Professor of Information Management Systems, for leading an inspiring hands-on event with Raeye Children Aid. Supported by BAU faculty, staff, and students, Dr. Tsige mentored students on AI, Scratch coding, and cybersecurity—helping spark creativity, curiosity, and confidence in young learners of all abilities, and exemplifying the collaborative impact of our community in developing the next generation of technology leaders.

This reflects Bay Atlantic University’s active role in community partnership and service. By supporting faculty-led education efforts, BAU expands access to technology and AI beyond campus, creating opportunities for individuals of all abilities to engage with innovation, build practical skills, and gain confidence in today’s digital world.
