Dear BAU Community,
The Fall semester has officially begun, bringing with it a renewed sense of purpose, possibility, and pride. As we welcome both new and returning students to campus, there is so much to look forward to at Bay Atlantic University.
What We’ve Been Up To This August:
Welcome, Class of 2029!
This month, we proudly welcomed the Class of 2029 into the BAU family. Our Fall Orientation was filled with energy, connection, and curiosity, offering students their first experience of the vibrant academic, social, and cultural life that defines our university. As they begin this transformative journey, I want to express my heartfelt support and encouragement to each of them. May this year be one of growth, exploration, and lasting impact.
New Academic Launches: Tech-Focused Certificate Programs
In response to the evolving needs of today’s workforce, we are excited to announce three new certificate programs in Software Engineering, Cloud Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence Engineering. These offerings provide flexible, hands-on training tailored for both early-career professionals and individuals seeking to transition into high-demand fields in technology. With stackable formats and a strong focus on real-world application, these programs are designed to prepare our students for success in the digital economy.
Innovation & Cybersecurity Hubs: Coming Soon
We are nearing the grand opening of two of the most anticipated additions to our campus: the Center for Innovation & Global Entrepreneurship (CIGE) and the Cyber Edge Innovation Hub (CEIH). These cutting-edge facilities will provide students with the tools, mentorship, and collaborative environments necessary to develop ideas, launch ventures, and build successful careers in cybersecurity, business, and beyond. They are physical representations of our commitment to innovation, creativity, and impact.
New Partnership: BAU x Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS)
We are proud to announce a new partnership with the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS), a major milestone in our ongoing commitment to global engagement and cross-disciplinary collaboration. This partnership will create new opportunities for research, community impact, and student involvement in projects that extend beyond borders – supporting our mission to cultivate thoughtful, globally minded leaders.
August in Review: News, Events & Updates
Community Engagement: Thai Festival in Annandale
As part of our monthly cultural outreach initiative, BAU was honored to participate in the 2nd Thai Festival in Annandale. It was a joyful and meaningful opportunity to engage with the local community and highlight the richness of our academic programs and support services. A heartfelt thank you goes to our student volunteers and staff for representing BAU with such enthusiasm and professionalism.
Annual University Day 2025
Our faculty and staff came together earlier this month for University Day—a tradition of collaboration, reflection, and renewal. The day featured updates on institutional goals, interactive professional development sessions, and time to reconnect as a team. We closed the day with some light-hearted fun through a lively game of BAU Bingo. Thank you to all who contributed to this energizing event.
Experiential Learning in Action: White Water Rafting Trip
Students recently had the chance to take part in an exciting white water rafting trip on the James River in Richmond, Virginia. Organized by the Student Services team, this off-campus experience fostered teamwork, resilience, and community building, all while enjoying the natural beauty of the region. It was a fun and memorable way to kick off the semester, and we thank our Student Services staff for making it possible.
Mark Your Calendar
Looking ahead to September, I invite you to take part in the many activities planned for our campus community—from the Community Service Fair to our Niagara Falls road trip and much more. These experiences are more than just events—they are opportunities to build friendships, explore new interests, and strengthen our sense of community.
Here’s to a meaningful and inspiring start to the academic year.
Warm regards,
Dr. Sinem Vatanartiran
President, Bay Atlantic University
