Your first stop for all things BAU. Welcome to Washington, D.C.!

What is NSO?

NSO introduces you to campus resources, academics, and the BAU community so you feel prepared and confident starting your degree. Fall 2026 NSO is Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 10:00 AM (Check-in starts at 9:30 AM). Attendance is required for all new students. You’ll meet faculty, staff, and peers, explore campus tools, and register for your first-semester classes.

What does NSO look like?

Fall NSO is an interactive multi-day experience packed with campus orientation, virtual portal training, and exciting field trips to Arundel Mills Outlet and New York City – designed to help you connect with peers, master your academic tools, and kick off your BAU journey.

For those unable to attend in person, an online orientation will be held on August 20th, 2026; please pay close attention to your email for the link and details to attend the virtual session.

Mission Statement

Bay Atlantic University New Student Orientation (NSO) lays the foundation for students to flourish academically, engage socially, and grow personally during and beyond their time at BAU. We aim to connect new students and their families to BAU’s vibrant D.C. community and resources by facilitating open dialogue, ongoing mentorship, and an inclusive environment reflective of our core values of respect, academic achievement, diversity, and integrity.

NSO Goals

New Student Orientation is designed with four outcomes for new students:

  • Promote awareness of BAU’s core values and the academic, cultural, and social expectations within the university community.
  • Help students understand and navigate academic and career opportunities at BAU, including hands-on support and student resources.
  • Facilitate the establishment of meaningful relationships and connections with faculty, staff, and peers.
  • Ensure students feel prepared for student life in Washington, D.C.
