Veterans Affairs (VA) Education Benefits
What Are VA Education Benefits?
GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). More information about education benefits offered by VA is available at the official U.S. government website at https://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill.
How to Get Started at BAU
BAU follows the verification and admission process below:
1. Apply to Bay Atlantic University
2. Submit Your Certificate of Eligibility (COE) or GI Bill® Documentation
Certificate of Eligibility
Students using VA education benefits must obtain a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) or official GI Bill® documentation from the VA and provide it to BAU.
The Certificate of Eligibility helps BAU verify important information, including:
- Type of VA benefit
- Benefit level or percentage
- Remaining entitlement
- Eligibility dates or expiration information, if applicable
⚠️ Important:
Students can be admitted without a Certificate of Eligibility. However, BAU cannot process the student under VA education benefits without this document.
3. Receive Your Admission Offer
Admitted students will receive an official admission letter and, if eligible, a scholarship or tuition assistance award. Please ensure you accept your offers by the deadline indicated on your letters to confirm your enrollment.
4. Verification and Enrollment
Once your VA documentation has been verified and approved, you may proceed with course registration and enrollment. Student eligibility for VA benefits must be verified each academic semester, including summer session.
Important Payment Information
VA payments are based on the student’s approved benefit level and the amount certified by the university.
Students should be aware that:
- VA benefits are processed after enrollment certification.
- The VA pays only up to approved tuition and benefit limits.
- Students are responsible for any balance not covered by VA benefits.
- Payment timelines may vary depending on VA processing.
