October was a month of connection at Bay Atlantic University. Our community celebrated its diverse cultures, welcomed exchange students, and connected with entrepreneurs and technology professionals across Washington, D.C. We also took an important step toward expanding opportunities for student entrepreneurship.

Here’s a look at the people, events, and initiatives that shaped the month.

BAU at DC Startup & Tech Week

BAU returned to DC Startup & Tech Week as a Community Sponsor for the second consecutive year. The event brought together entrepreneurs, investors, technology professionals, and students for workshops, conversations, and networking across Washington, D.C.

For our community, the week offered a chance to explore the region’s startup ecosystem and connect classroom learning with the experiences of people building new businesses. Thank you to the organizers, partners, and everyone who represented BAU throughout the week.

Connecting With Our Exchange Students

Our Admissions team brought exchange students together at The Bay for an afternoon of games, prizes, and refreshments. The gathering gave students a chance to meet one another, build friendships, and enjoy time together outside the classroom.

Celebrating Our Community at Culture Day

Culture Day brought students and staff together to celebrate the backgrounds and traditions represented at BAU. It was an opportunity to share experiences, learn about one another, and appreciate the diversity that shapes our university.

A special thank-you to the Student Services department for organizing the celebration, and to everyone who participated. Moments like these help students feel at home while giving our entire community a chance to see the world through someone else’s perspective.

Fall Hiking Getaway in Pennsylvania

To experience the beauty of peak autumn, BAU students escaped the city on October 25–26 for an unforgettable weekend getaway in the heart of Pennsylvania. Surrounded by brilliant fall foliage and crisp mountain air, the trip was the perfect mix of outdoor adventure and shared moments with friends.

From taking in the breathtaking overlook at Pole Steeple and journeying underground on a boat tour through Penn’s Cave, to discovering the hidden waterfalls, suspension bridge, and Balanced Rock at Trough Creek State Park, it was a true celebration of nature and community outside the classroom. Thank you to everyone who joined us for an incredible weekend of memories!

Building Opportunities for Student Entrepreneurs

In October, BAU convened the founding Advisory Board of the Center for Innovation and Global Entrepreneurship (CIGE). Housed within the Department of Business, the center is being developed to support hands-on entrepreneurship and venture building.

The meeting marked an important step toward creating opportunities for students to explore business ideas, develop entrepreneurial skills, and connect with experienced professionals. It also opens new possibilities for collaboration among BAU, industry leaders, and the wider business community.

Looking Ahead: CIGE Launch

Save the date for the official launch of CIGE on November 20, from 4:30–6:30 p.m. Students, faculty, entrepreneurs, investors, and community partners will come together to learn about the center and its vision. Watch for further event details through BAU’s communications channels.

Planning Ahead for Spring

For current students, now is a good time to review course options and connect with an academic advisor about the next semester. Check your university email and MyBAU for registration information, important dates, and updates. Planning ahead can help you make informed course selections and stay on track toward your academic goals.

Thank you to the students, faculty, staff, and partners who helped make October a month of connection and discovery. Whether you joined a campus celebration, represented BAU at an event, or supported our students behind the scenes, your contributions make a difference.
