Dear BAU Community,
As we approach the end of another wonderful academic year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible events and achievements that have shaped this past month. From campus celebrations to new initiatives and meaningful collaborations, it’s been a month of purpose and progress at Bay Atlantic University.
A Few Highlights of April:
We’re proud to announce two exciting new spaces at BAU designed to shape the next generation of changemakers:
o Center of Innovation & Global Entrepreneurship
o Cyber Edge Innovation Hub
These new initiatives are designed to empower students who are ready to lead, create, and solve global challenges. Whether you are interested in launching a startup or advancing in the cybersecurity field, these hubs will provide the resources and community to turn ideas into impact.
Bay Atlantic University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Italian Diplomatic Academy in Morocco (IDA Maroc), led by Cav. Prof. Abderrahmane Chabib.
This exciting collaboration reflects our shared commitment to youth empowerment, cultural diplomacy, and global education. It marks an important step in deepening ties between Morocco and the U.S. and expanding opportunities for our students and academic community.
Our campus came alive as we celebrated Thai New Year with a colorful and joyful gathering. Students, faculty, and staff enjoyed a variety of delicious traditional Thai dishes, joined in on fun games like ring toss and darts, and embraced the festive spirit with a lively water splash fight which is a nod to one of the holiday’s most beloved traditions. Events like these are more than just celebrations, they reflect the cultural richness that defines our community.
I had the pleasure of hosting Breakfast with the President. Over a warm meal and thoughtful conversation, we reflected on their journeys, talked about future aspirations, and shared a few words of encouragement. It was a meaningful way to mark the final stretch of their time at BAU and celebrate the dedication and growth they’ve shown throughout their academic experience.
As part of Bay Atlantic University’s commitment to internationalization, we recently welcomed Mr. Oscar Csibi, Assistant Professor at Université Catholique de l’Ouest (UCO), for an insightful workshop on cultivating an Entrepreneurship Mindset. Engaging with international scholars like Mr. Csibi enriches our students’ global perspectives, strengthens cross-cultural learning, and prepares them to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
Alumni Spotlight: Telmen Altanshagai
We are proud to share that Bay Atlantic University’s former valedictorian and alumna, Telmen Altanshagai, received the “Outstanding Academic Performance or Scholarly Contribution” award at American University’s 2025 SIS Graduate Student Award Winners Ceremony. She is currently completing her Master’s degree at American University. We are always here, supporting our students every step of the way, and we couldn’t be any prouder.
BAU BEYOND CAMPUS
Cherry Blossom Kite Festival & Petalpalooza
During DC’s peak tourism season, BAU staff distributed branded materials at two major National Cherry Blossom Festival events. This outreach helped increase public awareness of our programs and drove new interest among local and visiting families.
OSSE – Adult College & Credentials
BAU participated in this DC government-hosted fair focused on adult learners and workforce development. It allowed us to engage a new audience segment and showcase flexible learning options for returning students and career changers.
WAIS Fair – Catholic University, Episcopal High School, Georgetown Prep
BAU participated in the WAIS multi-day fair series, connecting with high school students, counselors, and families across DC, Virginia, and Maryland. These visits expanded our regional recruitment pipeline and strengthened our brand presence among college-bound students.
BAU x RedCross Blood Drive
In collaboration with the American Red Cross, BAU hosted a community-wide blood drive on campus. The event promoted civic engagement among students and demonstrated our commitment to serving the greater DC community.
