Dear BAU Community,
As we approach the end of another academic year and look ahead to our upcoming commencement ceremony, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on the past month. This has been a period defined by the achievements of our students and the dedication of our faculty through engaging classroom experiences, hands-on learning, and meaningful collaboration both on and off campus.
From student-led initiatives to faculty-driven innovation, the BAU community continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to academic excellence, growth, and impact.
Discover Your Academic Path
We kicked off the month with our Discover Your Academic Path event, designed for Mentora College ESL students preparing to transition into Bay Atlantic University’s degree programs. Through career exploration sessions and one-on-one conversations with faculty and admissions staff, students gained valuable guidance on navigating their next academic step and confidently moving from ESL studies into full degree pathways.

Exploring Innovation in Higher Education at Salesforce Event
This past month, our team attended the Advancing Higher Education Through Personalized Engagement by Salesforce, a one-day event focused on strengthening personalized student engagement in higher education. Through this experience, we gained valuable insights, expanded our network, and identified practical strategies to refine our engagement efforts and build stronger connections with prospective students.

BAU Volunteers at Earth Day Cleanup 2026
To celebrate DC Climate Week, BAU Volunteers came together to take part in the Anacostia Watershed Society’s Annual Earth Day Cleanup 2026 at the Ivy City Community Center in Washington, D.C. Students, faculty, and staff joined forces to support environmental sustainability efforts, helping to clean and restore local spaces while reinforcing our shared commitment to a greener, healthier community.

BAU Beyond Campus: College Fair Engagements Across the Region
This month, Bay Atlantic University participated in several key outreach events, including BAU at NOVA Annandale, the International Education Fair at Bahçeşehir Kemerburgaz Campus (organized with the support of the Global Education Center), the NACAC College Fair in Prince George’s County, MD, and the WAIS College Fairs at Episcopal High School and Our Lady of Good Counsel High School.
Across these engagements, our faculty and staff represented BAU off campus, connecting with prospective students and sharing insights about our academic programs, student experience, and global learning opportunities. These conversations also highlighted transfer pathways designed to support a seamless transition into university studies at BAU.
Through these efforts, BAU continues to expand its presence beyond campus and build meaningful connections with students exploring their next academic step.

Capturing the Moment: Senior Photo Day
Recently, we hosted our annual Senior Photo Day, bringing graduating students together to celebrate an important milestone in their academic journey. More than a photoshoot, the event reflected their growth, resilience, and experiences throughout their time at BAU, while marking their transition into the next chapter of their academic and professional lives The day was filled with pride, excitement, and anticipation, and was made possible through the collaborative efforts of our Student Services, Marketing, and IT teams. It served as a meaningful reminder of our students’ achievements and the promising futures that lie ahead.

May at a Glance: Milestones, Celebrations, and Commencement
As we look ahead to May, our campus is filled with excitement as we prepare for our 2026 Commencement. This month brings together the culmination of our students’ hard work, dedication, and academic journey as we celebrate the Class of 2026.
Thank you for your continued support, dedication, and partnership as we close out the academic year on a high note.
Warm regards,
Dr. Sinem Vatanartiran
