Dear BAU family,
As was announced by Mayor Bowser, the indoor mask mandate will go into effect at 6 a.m. ET Tuesday, Dec. 21 through January 31 as DC has been experiencing its highest daily coronavirus case count since the start of the pandemic.
The DC government mandate will also be expanded so that employees will be required to get a booster shot on top of their vaccination.
The COVID-19 Committee at BAU has decided to implement these practices, as well to make our campus more safe against any possible cases. Starting from December 21, 2021:
1. All employees, students, and faculty will wear a face mask indoors at all times.
2. Any on campus social events are suspended until January 31, 2022.
3. The mandatory vaccination policy continues with the addition of the booster shots. We follow CDC’s guidelines in implementing this: You are required to get your booster shot at least 6 months after completing your primary COVID-19 vaccination series of Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna or 2 months after completing your vaccination of Johnson & Johnson.
4. Students should present their vaccination cards to the Registrar (Izel Ugur) and employees/faculty should present their vaccination cards to the HR Director (Angela Myers).
You can communicate with the Director of Student Services (Alex Roset) to learn about exemption cases.
We do our best to make our campus safe.
I would like to wish all of you and your loved ones a healthy and a happy holiday season.
Best regards,
Sinem VATANARTIRAN, PhD President Bay Atlantic University
