WASHINGTON, D.C., October 6, 2025 – Bay Atlantic University (BAU) celebrated a significant student achievement this week as its team took home the bronze medal in the Agentic AI Hackathon at DevFest DC 2025. The victory was a highlight of the premier tech conference, where BAU also proudly served as a Community Sponsor, championing the next generation of innovators. Held at the GMU Fuse Building, the event convened a dynamic mix of developers and tech leaders to explore the future of Artificial Intelligence.
Throughout the day, the students immersed themselves in high-level discussions. “The session on ‘GenAI in the Enterprise’ with speakers from Ford and Marriott really connected our classroom theories to massive, real-world applications,” said Hruthik Nitchal Rao Nimmaneni. “It’s inspiring to see the direct path from our studies at BAU to leading global companies.”
The agenda featured keynotes like “Keras in the age of GenAl and LLMs” by Google’s Yufeng Guo and “Human-Al Interaction: The Next Frontier” by Missy Cummings of George Mason University. Udoka Jennifer Chinonye Igboanugo noted the value of the hands-on workshops. “The code lab, ‘Build Your First Al Agent in Under an Hour,’ was incredible,” she shared. “It demystified a complex topic and empowered us to start building immediately.”
The main event for the BAU team was the day-long Agentic AI Hackathon, where they competed to build innovative AI solutions. Their hard work culminated in the final presentations, where their project impressed the judges and secured them third place.
“Winning the bronze medal was an amazing experience,” said Siva Abishikth Mylavarapu. “The hackathon pushed us to apply everything we’ve learned about AI under pressure. It proves that what we’re studying at BAU has real-world power, and to be recognized for it is a huge honor for the whole team.”
By sponsoring events like DevFest DC and empowering students to compete at the highest level, Bay Atlantic University is not just participating in the tech community—it’s proving its students are ready to lead it.
