Ottoman America, a documentary that tells the story of Ottoman immigrants who came to the U.S. in the early 1900s, will soon make its debut in select theaters. The film is a co-production of The Bay Atlantic University, The Bahçeşehir University Center for Civilization Studies (MEDAM) and The Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB). “Ottoman America” is an investigative documentary which comprises 3 episodes each 35 minutes.
Through the narration of personal stories this documentary aims to illustrate the experience of the Ottoman immigrants as they settled in the U.S. The production was filmed in Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Michigan and Virginia as well as the capital, Washington D.C.
The launch event and screening of the documentary was held in New York Turkish House Center on Monday, September 20, 2021 at 1:00pm (EST).
