Mentora College welcomes individuals who are currently in the United States on a different visa type and wish to change their status to F-1 in order to begin English language studies. Our change of status process is designed to be clear and supportive, helping students navigate the necessary steps with confidence. To apply, students must meet all standard admission requirements, submit the required documents, and follow USCIS procedures for changing their visa status. Each application is carefully reviewed to ensure eligibility and proper preparation for F-1 study. MENTORA CHANGE OF STATUS ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Step 1: Online Application

Step 2: Documents
To complete your application, you must provide:
a. A clear photocopy of the following form of identification:
- Passport
b. Bank Statement
- Applicants must provide a bank statement as proof of adequate financial resources to cover expenses for the first year of study.
- If the bank statement is not in the applicant’s name, a Sponsorship Letter is required.
- If the applicant has dependents, copies of their passports, along with marriage or birth certificates, must be submitted.
In addition to the above documents students who want to change their status must submit the following documents:
c. Current Immigration Documents:
- Copy of Visa
- Form I-94
- Adjustment Copy of your DS 2019 Form (Only if you hold a J-1 Visa)
Step 3: Evaluation
Once your application and documents have been submitted, the evaluation process will take approximately 2–3 business days.
Step 4: Document Processing Fee
Pay the non-refundable $125 document processing fee.
Step 5: Admission Letter
Upon review and approval of all required documents, an official admission letter will be sent to your email.
Note: You will get conditional admissions letter for degree program if you have selected a degree program when you fill out the application.
Step 6: I-20
You must obtain the I-20, sign it as required, and allow 7-10 business days for processing.
Note: Following our DSO issue I-20, you are responsible for completing your change of status independently. Please inform us once your change of status has been approved.
Step 7: Tuition Payment
After reviewing the tuition details, make your tuition payment and send proof of payment to our Finance Department at: [email protected] (mandatory to pay per session: one session = 3 months)
Step 8: Placement Test
Schedule a placement test with our Academic Department. This test will determine your current English proficiency level prior to the start of classes.
Step 9: Class Selection and Attendance
You will receive an email regarding your class schedule. However, it will depend upon the available schedule that we have. Please also collect your course materials from the Academic Department.
Step 10: Orientation
All students are required to attend a mandatory Orientation during the second week of their session.
