Some people build a school. Enver Yücel built a network that spans four continents — and he is still building it.
Born in 1957 in Giresun, Türkiye, Yücel graduated from the Mathematics Department of the Atatürk Education Institute, now the Faculty of Education at Marmara University. He entered the profession as a teacher. He never left the conviction behind it: high-quality education is not a privilege to ration but a foundation to extend. More than five decades later, that belief has become one of the world’s largest education organizations.
As Founder and Chairman of the Executive Board of Bahçeşehir Uğur Educational Institutions, Yücel oversees a network that serves more than 150,000 students. It reaches from early childhood through graduate study — K–12 schools, universities, language schools, and educational technology ventures, working in concert rather than isolation. Under his direction, the BAU Global network has grown to include universities in Istanbul, Washington, D.C., Berlin, Batumi, and Northern Cyprus, alongside international language schools, research centers, and academic partnerships across multiple continents.
