PROOF OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

English Language Proficiency Submission Guidelines

Students must submit official score reports or have their test results sent directly to Bay Atlantic University (BAU) by the test provider. All scores must be no more than two years old at the time of application.

Alternative Ways to Satisfy the English Proficiency Requirement:

Applicants may have the English proficiency requirement waived if they meet one of the following conditions:

• Language of Instruction: If the student earned a diploma or degree from an institution where English was the language of instruction, official transcripts must clearly state this. If the transcript does not explicitly mention the language of instruction, the student must provide additional proof that their coursework was conducted in English.
• U.S. Postsecondary Education: Students who have successfully completed at least 12 semester credit hours with a minimum “C” average at a U.S. postsecondary institution where English was the language of instruction may also satisfy the English proficiency requirement.

Steps to Take the BAU English Proficiency Test: 

Duration of test: 2 hours 

1. Contact admissions department at [email protected] or call us at 202-644-7200 for assistance. 
2. Submit a payment of $45. After processing the payment, you will receive your test schedule by email. 
3. Attend the test on the scheduled date.

Important: A minimum score of 70 is required for undergraduate programs and 75 for graduate programs to get the admissions. 

How to Send Duolingo English Test Results to BAU

If you are submitting Duolingo English Test (DET) scores, follow these steps to share your results with BAU:

1. Log in to your Duolingo English Test account at https://englishtest.duolingo.com.
2. Navigate to your test results page after receiving your official score.
3. Click on the “Send Results” button.
4. Search for Bay Atlantic University in the institution list.
5. Select BAU and confirm to send your scores directly to the admissions office.
