Washington, D. C. – Bay Atlantic University, located in Washington D.C., is excited and proud to award the James Wormley Full Tuition Scholarship to local, graduating high school senior, Ethan Anderson from Ballou High School, Class of 2021.   As a James Wormley Scholar, Mr. Anderson will be pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and will have the opportunity to take advantage of all the global opportunities that the Bay Atlantic University international network has to offer.

“Bay Atlantic University was founded on the premise of making education accessible to people from all walks of life.  With the creation of the James Wormley Scholarship, we are reaffirming our commitment to be an integral part of the greater Washington D.C. community by providing local scholars, such as Ethan, the opportunity to pursue their educational dreams,” said Dr. Sinem Vatanartiran, President of Bay Atlantic University.

“The James Wormley Scholarship and Scholar Program was created in the aftermath of the George Floyd protests that rocked the nation,” Dr. Vatanartiran continued “we felt that, as an academic institution, the best way to contribute in a positive way was to use our reach and resources to provide access to education to underserved communities.”    The James Wormley Scholarship is only available to students from underserved communities in Washington D.C.  As part of the application process, the student must make a compelling case as to how the Black Lives Matter movement and pursuit of a global education will help bring positive change to our communities and the world at large.

As a James Wormley Scholar, Mr. Anderson will also have the opportunity to spend a semester abroad at a BAU Global Campus of choice.   This international experience is designed to provide students with the exposure to the global nature of business and education in the Information Age.
