ABOUT THE CENTER FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING
Empowering Educators: The Center for Teaching and Learning
The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is dedicated to cultivating excellence in education. The Center offers support services designed to empower faculty and instructors in their pursuit of innovative and engaging teaching practices.
Professional development opportunities through the University’s partnership with Coursera provide a platform for continuous learning and growth. Faculty can take part in recommended training programs curated by CTL or choose to explore academic upskilling opportunities themselves. From seminars on active learning strategies to incorporating technology in the classroom, Coursera offers a diverse range of programs to meet your individual interests.
CTL also host in-service training sessions at the beginning of each academic year, and periodically throughout the rest of the year, addressing topics of interest to faculty as well as specific challenges which may arise in teaching at the university level, all with an eye towards equipping faculty with practical solutions for classroom consideration.
For a relaxed and informal exchange of ideas, CTL hosts brown bag lunches, where faculty can gather (often online) to discuss teaching strategies, share best practices, and network with colleagues. These sessions provide an opportunity for collaborative learning and problem-solving in a comfortable and supportive environment.
Beyond professional development opportunities, in-service training, and informal discussions, CTL offers individualized faculty assistance and can provide tailored guidance on course design, assessment strategies, and curriculum development. The Center offers consultations, feedback on teaching materials, and resources to help faculty create a dynamic and engaging learning environment for BAU students.
CTL is more than just a resource center; it’s a community dedicated to supporting the teaching journey for University faculty. At the Center, we believe that by fostering a culture of continuous improvement, we can collectively elevate the quality of education and enhance the learning experience for all.
