681 DC Residents Sleep Outside Each Night Unsheltered: Bay Atlantic University Students Host the #BAUforDCCoalitionofHomeless Clothing Drive for D.C. Coalition for the Homeless to help those in need
Washington DC has one of the largest homeless populations in the nation, with 16.6% of D.C. residents living in poverty; homelessness in D.C. is 2x the national average, with each night 681 people sleeping outside unsheltered. For this reason, Bay Atlantic University (BAU) students are hosting the #BAUforDCCoalitionofHomeless clothing drive for D.C. Coalition for The Homeless to collect clothing for those in need.
The #BAUforDCCoalitionofHomeless clothing drive will start on November 01, 2021, to November 05, 2021, from 9:00, am – 5:00 pm at Bay Atlantic University, 1510 H St NW, Washington, DC 20005; on the third floor, there will be an opportunity for BAU students and staff to donate. Upon collection, BAU students will distribute clothes on November 21 at D.C. Coalition for The Homeless Center.
D.C. Coalition for The Homeless is close to the heart of BAU students Agatha Perez, Zaid Abu Sheikha, Munkhgerel Ganbold, Dias Nurgaliyev, Mariami Shengelia, and Juan Villa, and is therefore asking for the support of the BAU community to gently used items on the third floor or contact Agatha Perez at +1 (571) 488-0083 or via email, [email protected] to schedule a pickup.
